Guns in America
2:00pm 10.03.2010
On March 10, 2010, the U.S. Embassy Legal Adviser Steve Kessler delivered a public lecture at the American Corner in Gyumri entitled "Guns in America."
The guest speaker spoke about the laws that allow carrying guns, about obtaining permission and the average cost of guns in the United States.
Kessler, together with participants, discussed the statistics of murders, assaults and shootings and suicides. He also mentioned that there are some cases when people were justified when they wore guns and killed a person for self-defense.
The punishment differs in different cases and the decision to plead guilty or not guilty can depends on whether the trial is by jury and or by judge.
More than 15 participants were present at the lecture.
