On April 13, 2010, the Gyumri American Corner hosted a public lecture about Washington, D.C. The lecture was held by 2007-2008 Fulbright alumni Astghik Shahkhatuni.

Through photos and anecdotes about the memorials, monuments, buildings and statues in the nation's capital, Ms. Shahkhatuni presented the life of the greatest U.S. presidents, influential founding fathers, and other important people and events in the history of the U.S. The participants also learned about the capital of the United States and its layout, emphasizing the importance of the legislature by placing the U.S. Capitol building in the center of the city. Astghik also provided information about the notable people and buildings featured on U.S. currency. She discussed the richly decorated, colorful rooms in the

White House and the impressive interior of the Library of Congress, as well as various places of worship, museums, and parks in the District.

After the presentation, Astghik prepared a quiz for the participants about what they had just learned. Astghik inspired the students with an interactive lecture making the whole atmosphere lively.

More than 15 people from different universities participated to the lecture.
