2:00pm 21.06.2010
On the 21st of June, 2011 the Chargé d’affairs’ of the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan Bruce Donahue visited American Corner Gyumri.
Mr. Bruce Donahue observed the book collections and was able to see an American Corner Gyumri Club_ Short Story Club_ in action. The club was held by Peace Corps volunteer Judith Enders. The club members were reading William Saroyan’s short story, The Broken Wheel. This was followed by discussion with the students.
Mr. Bruce Donahue toured the American Corner Gyumri and the hosting library_ “The Gyumri Branch of National Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship” and met with the librarians. The American Corner Gyumri Coordinator Siranush Khachatryan explained how and when American Corner Gyumri was opened and how it functions.
The meeting with Mr. Bruce Donahue was very productive, as he was to observe the work of American Corner Gyumri firsthand, meet with the readers and the club members as well as tour the only technical library in the Shirak region.
