The Journey to HERE: A Case Study of the First American Independent Feature Film Shot in Armenia

On July 14 Gyumri American Corner hosted a presentation by film director Braden King. “Here” is the first American movie filmed in Armenia. Mr. King gave a presentation at Gyumri American Corner. He shared his personal path to shooting the film in Armenia and spoke about the creative development of the project.

This activity presented an interesting and catchy story of a film director who shot the first American film in Armenia.King also touched upon the ideas of leadership and volunteerism essential to overcome the challenges of filmmaking in Armenia. It started a discussion over the role of the youth in making a change and would continue if not the start of another scheduled youth event at the same location.

The activity was organized by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. It was attended by students, civil society NGO representatives and young filmmakers. Braden King spoke about the Journey to HERE, sharing his personal path to shooting the film in Armenia and speaking about the creative development and history of the project. At the end Mr. Braden King answered questions from the audience.
