Gyumri American Corner hosted IRO Alka Bhatnagar
3:28am 22.05.2012
On May 21st, the Gyumri American Corner hosted IRO Belgrade Alka Bhatnagar with a public lecture.
Mrs. Alka introduced herself and spoke about her background, and afterwards she presented the topic “Travels to the U.S.” She invited the audience to take a virtual tour to the famous cities of the USA, such as Washington D.C., New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston. She spoke about the culture, the population, and the history of these cities. She even spoke about the tasty food that one can find only in the U.S.
Nearly 30 people were present, including English language teachers, university faculty members, university and K-12 students, and Peace Corp volunteers. The participants had many questions about cultural differences and culture shock. They also had questions about scholarship opportunities that U.S. Embassy can offer to Armenian students. Mrs. Alka gave detailed answers to all the questions.
Participants learned very helpful information about the big cities of the United States and the cultural diversity that characterizes those metropolitan cities.
